Over A Year

Well it’s been over a year since my blog has had any ‘action’ I really am terrible at remembering,
So many projects have been created in that time so I’m not going to list them all, let’s just start from today 🙂
My WIPs (work((s)) in progress) at the moment are

I’m up to the sleeves on mine so don’t really have too much left to do but they’re so monotonous that I get easily distracted from knitting them.

2nd WIP another fabulous shawl from the wonderful Stitchnerd (Susan Ashcroft) this one is a mystery KaL ( knit along) *pattern here* so no spoiler pictures till the 24th October, I can however show you the yarns I’m using

Talking of yarns, today in the post I received my Tri’coterie yarns this company is one of my very favourites they only sell on ravelry through their forum so can be a little difficult to get hold of. Last months yarn were based on Cassandra Clare’s books ( the mortal instruments series & the infernal devices series) I hadn’t read the books when I ordered the yarns but I have now and they were a gripping read a must if you are into that sort of genre. So to the yarns 😉 2 sock weights in graduates ‘jace’ (the green) & ‘Isabel’ (the purple)

And finally just to show the awesomeness of Tri’coterie here are the other yarns of theirs that I have (so far) and I’d have much much more if only I had the money lol

Tied fleece baby blankets :)

Today on a rainy miserable sunday I’ve been making tied fleece baby blankets for a friend who’s asked me to make 2, they’re so simple to do but a little time consuming tying all the knots, there are hundreds of tutorials out there on how to make them but I thought I’d quickly show you how I do mine.

As you can see I use a rotary cutter & cutting mat to make mine, I have used scissors with all the ones I’ve made before which is absolutely fine, although the rotary cutter has made a huge difference to the amount of time spent on the cutting part of the blanket & at only around £5 it was most definitely worth it.

Firstly cut 2 pieces of fleece to the size you want the blanket to be plus an extra 4inches all round (roughly) I always use one plain piece of fleece along with one patterned piece but it’s personal preference as to what you want to use,

Make sure you have right sides out on both pieces, next cut a 4 inch square out of each corner,

Now for the bits that are going to make the tied up knots, all the way round you need to cut slits 4 inches long with an inch in between each one

The next Part is tying all the strips together,this is the bit that I find takes the
Longest, the way I do mine is as if you were tying up a ballon

I’ve Seen people tie the strips together by just making a double knot in with them, I do it this way as I think it looks neater

Continue tying knots all the way round

And there you are one finished blanket

These can be made to any size you want & really are a great gift to give for a new baby

Sunny days

Hope everyone has sun wherever they are , it’s been quite glorious here so much nicer than all the wind & rain we’ve been having recently. The sun being out means summery hooky stuff needs doing though mainly in the form of 2 hats for C (as much as she detestes wearing them) in an effort to keep the sun off of her face

The sun’s giving everything in the garden a lovely boost too so lots of veg is sprouting up now & my chillies on the windowsill are soaking up the rays too

Lots to do today cleaning tidying & sorting before my parents arrive for a few days up here with us,

Is there anything better than crafty stuff arriving in the post? deramores have some great offers on most of the time but an email yesterday with £5 off a £25 order really meant I HAD to buy something, with stylecraft being on offer at the same time I stocked up on some wools to go with others I already have, ready for more projects I have in my mental ‘to-do’ list, there’s a lot of grey in this order but it’s being paired up with some lovely bright colours, the bright pink was an impulse buy as it’s not been in stock every other time I’ve ordered stylecraft. So here it is todays yarnie goodness 🙂

So I start a new blog & oh dear i’m not too good at keeping it up to date am I,  well I have been busy on the crafting front though so i’ll make this a nice picture heavy post 🙂

Crocheted & lined case made for R’s kindle, he’s very pleased with it

I finally got round to lining my crocheted case I made for my kobo last month.

Some bunting made for the girls bedroom.

I’ve made a crochet bag from the Attic24 Blog Lucy’s pattern is wonderful & very easy to follow, i’ve lined the bag & the handles to give it extra stability.

On to works in progress now my lovely scarf in 2 colours of King Kole Riot yarn in a great pattern I found through  ravelry Noro stripe scarf

I’ve also started a TGV (High speed knitting) shawl in my lovely ball of zauberball yarn that R bought for me last year.

Phew that’s a lot of crafty pics, well R is working nights for the next few weeks so i have lots of knitting crocheting & sewing time in the evenings & maybe i’ll remember to get into the routine of blogging a little more often too xx

Weekend chaos :)

Weekends bring chaos to our household 4 children playing,homework to be done, R’s been working all day & I’m trying to get all the jobs done, so no craftiness has happened at all today hopefully there will be time this evening, so today’s crafty pic is my little android for R that I crocheted yesterday 🙂 happy weekend xx

Hello, well I’ve had this blog ready to go for months now but getting round to  actually sorting it out figuring what it all does & writing a 1st post has been a daunting experience, so here we are in very rainy Lincoln a dull dreary Friday afternoon sat writing my first post while C-G eats her lunch & starts to look drowsy for her afternoon nap. April has been a busy month craft wise learning how to loom knit socks and making all sorts of little bits & bobs, plus life’s been hectic with turning 30 last weekend! So there we go that’s my first quick simple short post 🙂 xx
